One of my favourite poems of all time! It is so... Romantic and assuring. It's such a beautiful description of the compass! John Donne's wife is one fortunate woman to have a husband like him, talented and faithful! John Donne is a great talent! I really admire the literally talents both he and Shakespeare had. Ah, this makes me miss Lit all over again. ):

Why don't they offer Lit in Poly! I wouldn't mind even if it was an elective! And! I found out they only offer Spanish till level 2! ): I suppose I'll have to continue level 3 and above at private centres? But... It'll be more expensive lah. I want Antonio to teach though. I like his style of teaching, it's quite fun and... Relaxed. Yeah, I miss Spanish lessons too! ):

And, I don't think I'm gonna have anymore English lessons! No more language lessons! That'll probably kill me ): But at least I'll have speech training and language arts. Although it's not directly language lessons, I'll still be a little sane.

MUSCLES ACHING REAL BADLY FROM TRAINING LAST NIGHT. How to go for training tomorrow night!

James' article is one of the longest article I ever took to complete. From editing to layouting to searching for pictures to rearranging to re-editing to compiling, it took me almost a whole 6 to 7 hours to complete it. James sure is one long-winded person. -.- Hahaha, nah just kidding lah.

Ah loads to update. Shall start with last Wed. (:

Went to James' house for a farewell dinner. Sort of lah. Haha I had fun playing the Wii stick thingy for the first time ever! Although it was super paiseh. That's because I've realized and accepted my inability for BOWLING. Unless Qiao teaches me. Anyway, it was so embarrassing because I don't know how I did it but, I managed to throw the ball thing (Forgot what's it called) backwards. I was so embarrassed I went to hide behind the nearest chair as everyone laughed! ): SO MEAN RIGHT. And I did that... 3 times. SMART, CASSANDRA, SMART. Okay, anyway, the fishball soup I cooked was such a success! I loved it so much! :D And it was such a popular choice :D

Went to St E on Thurs night :D It was pretty cool, seeing bridges being built. And I also decided to cook fishball soup pasta on Sat for Vibe :D

Had combined Acts and Youth Worship on Friday! IT WAS SO COOL! Haha 'cause we played games. And it was cool seeing the adults play child-like games like us! :D And we didn't have Small Group presentation in the end.

Went to send James off on Sat. Haha only decided that on Friday night :D Then Jean and I came up with a little something for him on Sat morning. We rewrote the lyrics to Mcfly's It's all about you, specially for him and sang it to him at the airport. We were so paiseh lah, we dragged somewhere else, away from the group to sing to him. Green's the combined part, purple's my part and orange's Jean's part. :D Ah but alas! We didn't manage to see him cry! ): OOH BUT I BOUGHT A NEW WATER BOTTLE AT MINI TOONS AT THE AIRPORT! It's super cute lah, light blue with the Chip & Dale cartoon! They're like, the cutest chipmunks ever! Alvin & the Chipmunks too! :D

Then went to Vibe and cooked my fishball soup. I was SO TIRED. And, my dishwashing partner never come! Ah wells, so I grabbed others to come wash with me (:

Went to church on Sunday morning, I was SO TIRED too. Then I went to Shaw to do CIP for ProjectAuctionLove. Sold TWENTY 10 BUCKS duckies in 3-4 HOURS :D Felt so accomplished lah! :D

Went to class chalet yesterday! :D I had so much fun BBQ-ing all the way from 6 till midnight! I was the firewoman for the whole night :D Stayed up, played with sparklers, talked about Sex and Violence - eh nothing dirty lah! Haha, we talked about the degrading morality in today's society and I shared part of the end of the world coming and the problem of sin and how we're all sinners with them. Hopefully this part of the Gospel will stimulate them into thinking deeper and open a way for me or any other Christian to share the Gospel with them and I pray for their salvation! Thank God I was able to get to know Jieling better and I tried to share with her the Gospel with through the point of our purpose in life. Praying for her salvation and for open doors to share the Gospel with her!

Stayed till this afternoon, then went for training. FINALLY! Haha after like, 3 months I think! I missed training so much! Thank God not a lot of people came. I felt a lot more comfortable today even though I was the only girl for like, the first 1.5 hours I think. Practiced a lot of my footwork, I hope I can catch up with the rest soon! Ooh and on my way to school, this little boy came and sat next to me on the bus. It was quite funny, 'cause he was too short to sit so his grandpa carried him to sit! SUPER CUTE lah he!

What a sad video. It clearly shows the influence of adults in the little ones' lives. I hope this video will awaken adults, and even teenagers to be aware of how their actions, even the little actions affect children.

WHAT AM I DOING NOW! BLOGGING ):

I seriously have no mood to study ): I don't know whyyy. Did notes and mindmaps for 3 main themes of PPCM in the afternoon. Still have at least 2 more big themes and the clusters of small ones. SO CASSANDRA, WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!!!

): Frustrated. I don't know with what. Friday's sermon was thought provoking.

Anyway, woke up sick today. Sore throat and the threat of an impending headache. Or rather, it arrived, but just mildly. Thus, I didn't go to church today. Neither did I meet up with Eileen to study. My mum wanted me to stay home to rest and study 'cause PPCM exam is tomorrow. Ah but thank God I was able to concentrate in the afternoon and did studied. I hope I manage to retain whatever I've learnt. Gonna help Anne tutor one of the kids tomorrow night :/ Not very confident but... ah wells. Better than nothing, at least I get 15 bucks.

I realise I need my CCA points. I've only got... 4 pathetic points ): CIP during the holidays! 8 weeks of holidays ahead. In a way I'm glad for it, another way, I'm not exactly welcoming it with totally open arms. I don't know what I'm gonna do during these 8 weeks ): Hopefully I'll be able to get a part time job. I think I'll stay home on Tuesday to finish up whatever I need to finish for Link and Library. Quite a handful to do. Poster designing, checking out notebooks etc etc.

Anyway, I was pretty bored over the week and didn't have the mood to study for Child Development too. Thus, I went to research on universities ( Again! ) and I found out that the University of Minnesota has Child Psychology ( I think ) degree! ;D I think lah, 'cause I wasn't sure of all the weird technical terms they used.

Fencing training on the 26th. I CAN'T WAIT!

I feel so fat for not exercising properly for almost... 3 months now?! 3 months of MC, that's my second longest MC lah. And I missed so much.

Saturday was good though. Although I didn't study, but I had a good time laughing and just relaxing with Ruijing, Karen and Yiting. Friday morning too. Haha, and we're gonna meet up tomorrow to study before PPCM test. Think I'll likely be relaxing and laughing away with them as well.

This really isn't the time but, WHAT AM I GONNA DO DURING THE HOLIDAYS?! I foresee a boring holiday if I don't find a job or something to occupy myself. Almost everyone else will be having school, all the JC kids and secondary kids and primary kids and even the uni kids. Poly have weird holidays timings ):

I stayed up last night to watch the Women's Individual Foil Olympics 2008 match. The semi-finals were interesting enough. By the time it got to the finals, I was on the couch, sleeping already. Ah wells, of all things, I missed the finals. But anyway, I was pretty much hoping that the Korean girl, Num Hyun hee, would win, she was so nimble in defense and recovery! But oh wells, I missed the Sabre one though, didn't know it was so early in the Olympics events. I can't seem to find any video recording of it! ): Wonder if there's a replay...? And Germaise! Tsk tsk, one day if I ever gt to fencing olympics you'll have to eat your words! I can't wait to go back for fencing training! :D ANKLE PLEASE HEAL!!!

Went to St. John's to celebrate National Day. I didn't realise that it was a public holiday although it was a Saturday! Had so many confusions, but thank God in the Henrietta and I could go :D It was fun, oh! The fish that they caught and cooked was so delicious! It ws really fresh :DDD Ooh and I learnt how to play Bridge :D Interesting intellectual game :D I wanna play again!

Thank God that He sent Karen and Rongxuan to the library on Monday to help Ruijing and I! Haha, the both of us were so panicky 'cause the pictures and links wouldn't work properly from dreamweaver to the webpages! Thank God so much they came in time and helped us solved the problem. I don't think I'll get A, but as Ruijing said, a pass would be good enough for this project. I still hate dreamweaver though, I still don't really get it. And in future, if I ever need a website for my childcare centre etc, I will hire a professional to do it. I will never ever do it on my own.

Attack (uh-TAK)- 1. n. In Foil: the act of extending one’s weapon toward one’s opponent’s target area. 2. n. In Sabre: the act of approaching one’s opponent while holding a weapon. 3. n. In Épée: the act of extending one’s weapon in the hopes that one’s opponent walks on to it.

Ballestra (buh-LES-tra)- 1. n. A short hop toward your opponent. 2. n. A very big crossbow.

Card (kard)- n. Marker, like a penalty flag in football, that referee uses to indicate a foul in fencing. Different color cards carry different meanings: Yellow cards denote a warning; Red cards, a point for the opponent; Black cards, disqualification and denial of existence.

Cat Phlegm (kat flem)- n. Nickname for Cataflam, a popular pain killer with the AADS.

Cooked Spring (kukt spring)- n. A spring that has been weakened by heat in order to make a weapon score more easily. See also: Dead Spring

Cut (kut)- v. Sabre attack using the blade of the weapon rather than the point.

Dead Spring (ded spring)- n. A spring that will no longer support enough weight to pass inspection. Springs die due to long periods of use, excessive force used in attacking and overcooking. See: Cooked Spring

Direct Elimination (dir-EKT ee-LIM-in-a-shun)- n. Tournament format which pairs fencers up in single bouts. The winner continues, the loser heads to the bar.

Dolphin Attack (DOL-fin uh-TAK)- n. An attack that comes with a bounding leap toward the target so the attacker arcs through the air like a dolphin jumping. Also called “Flipper lunge.”

Fabric, On (FAB-rik)- adj. When a weapon seems to register a touch on very little pressure.

Flick (flik)- n. An attack made by snapping the blade downward and stopping short so the point “flicks” down and lands on the opponent. Unsuccesful flicks are called Thwapps.

Flickster (FLIK-ster)- 1. n. Fencer who relies on flick attacks. 2. n. Dire insult.

Footwork (FUT-werk)- 1. n. What a fencer’s feet should be doing while fencing. 2. v. Practicing what your feet should be doing while fencing. 3. n. Biggest reason why people are late to fencing practice in Ann Arbor.

French, The (french)- n. The reason why fencing rules are hard to understand.

Hey-la (HAY-laaaah)- n. Victorious shout celebrating a sweet, successful attack.

La Belle (lah bel)- n. Term for a bout that is tied with one touch remaining. In other words, 4-4 in a 5 touch bout or 14-14 in 15 touch bout. It is customary to salute at this point. From the French for “the beautiful” and sometimes the touch actually is beautiful.

Lunge (lunj)- v. Strong push with the back foot that accelerates one toward one’s opponent. Easy to understand, difficult to do.

Million Pounds (MILL-yon POWNDZ)- adj. Declaration that a spring has a lot of strength. See also: Truck Spring.

Mutant (MYOO-tant)- n. Left-handed fencer. (MARCUS is a mutant!)

Off-target (off TAR-get)- 1. n. In Saber or Foil: the part of the body that (for some reason) doesn’t count for anything. 2. n. In Épée: the referee. 3. n. Interesting fencing ‘zine.

Pick (pik)- v. Épée attack aimed at the hand or wrist. Often followed by a Hey-la.

Pin, The (pin)- n. The only thing keeping a brain grenade from going off. (i.e. A fencer’s self-control) See: Brain Grenade

Piste (pist)- 1. n. The grounded metal strip on which a fencing match takes place. 2. adj. How fencers feel after losing a bout they shouldn’t have.

Point (poynt)- 1. n. The end of the weapon you don’t hold. 2. n. The part of the weapon that sets off the scoring box in Foil and Épée.

Postage Stamp (POST-aj stamp)- 1. n. A Foil fencer less than 5 feet tall (ie 10-year-olds). 2. n. The equivalent amount of valid target exposed on a Foil fencer less than 5 feet tall

Repechage (REP-eh-shazh) - A tournament format that allows fencers who lose a direct elimination bout to contine through a table of other losers in order to get back into the winner’s bracket.(From the French for “This is your last chance, don’t blow it!”)

Remise (rim-EEZ)- 1. n. A continuation of an attack after it has missed or was parried. 2. v. What you just did while your opponent was riposting.

Riposte (rih-POST)- v. Attack that immediately follows a successful parry.

Screw (skroo)- 1. n. The little pieces of metal constantly falling out of weapon tips. 2. v. What happens when the ref doesn’t like you.

Thunkers (THUNK-erz)- n. Plastic breast protectors, worn under women’s jackets. Named for the “THUNK” noise made when they do their job.

Thrust (thrust)- n. An attack that lands with the point of the weapon.

Thwapp (thwap)- n. An attack that lands primarily with the side of the blade, rather than the point. Usually such an attack accomplishes little more than angering one’s opponent.

Tihs (tish)- n. The last work that goes through your head backwards before you land on your opponent’s point.

Touche (touch -or- toosh -or- toosh-AY)- n. A point in fencing.

Track Mark- (trak mark)- n. Long, scraping bruises left when a point drags across a fencer. Often left on a fencer’s arms by an Épée.

Truck Spring (truk spring)- n. Spring in a weapon with the strength to support a Mack Truck. While such a point will pass inspection, it will also make it tough to score.

Wildebeest (WILL-da-beest) n. A older fencer whom you expect to be an easy opponent do to his or her age. Warning: Some Wildebeests are actually lions!

Wrinkle (REEN-kel) n. Little folds in fencing clothing that jump out and catch the opponents point.
