03 September 2007 ! at 4:15 AM ! Yesterday was combined tribe bbq. I felt quite bad after the bbq. Because I was sulking through the bbq ): I was pretty much insulted by someone who told me to go away when I was controlling the fire. That person insulted my fire skills. ):< And I miss practising my fire skills, all that blowing long and hard. Bbq somehow reminded me of guides and I miss guides a lot ): I miss all that outdoor cooking and camping and campfires! ): Anyway yeah so after I was insulted I pretty much ignored the person and walk away whenever the person talked. And after that I felt quite bad because I know the person doesn't know that the person has offended me. Oh wells, it has all blown over. Stupid sc is using fantastic vocabulary in his short paragraphs on his blog. I shall learn from him and I shall compete with him. I am now in the mood to write and essay. Yes, in the middle of the night at 3.15 am. I think I'm going crazy. Curiosity Jiayi stood tip-toed on the toilet seat, trying her best to peer at whatever was on top of the bathroom window pane. "There's nothing," she said, irritated at her younger sister for disturbing her. "There is!" Jiaxin insisted. The little six-year old was certain she had seen some sort of insect moving on top the window pane. She was scared stiff, and had shrieked at the top of her lungs for her nine-year old sister to come. She had refused to shower till the insect was caught. "You're just too short," Jiaxin sneered, mocking her sister for being small sized. "I am not!" Jiayi retorted, feeling the anger rising up within her. "Why don't you place a stool on top of the toilet seat, I'm sure you'll be able to see better," Jiaxin suggested, now afraid that her sister will leave her in the toilet alone. Jiayi was about to give up trying; she was almost certain her sister was having her on. "This must be one of her usual tricks," she thought furiously to herself. But just then, Jiayi saw something moving on the window pane. Her heart started to beat a little faster as she saw the insect's shadow fluttering across the window pane. She was every bit as afraid as her younger sister was, but she was not about to show it. Besides, she had to find out what that insect was and catch it; she could always frighten Jiaxin later. Vacillating, Jiayi finally decided to heed her sister's 'advice'; curiosity was getting the better of her. She placed the dirty-white coloured stool on top of the toilet seat, and climbed gingerly on top of the toilet seat. She took one final look at Jiaxin, only to find her sister nodding her head and egging her on. Jiaxin balanced the stool and warily lifted one foot onto the stool. Wavering in her stance, young Jiaxin felt fear creeping into her heart steathily as waves of acid washed up her stomach. She was definitely in a precarious position. With a deep breath, Jiayi lifted her other foot off the toilet seat and tried to balanced on the stool. Almost immediately the stool slid off the smooth marble toilet seat, sending Jiayi flying to the pink tiled floor. It was all too sudden; the next second Jiayi was lying on the ground, holding her left wrist in pain and screaming blue murder. Her parents came dashing in, apprehensive of what they would find. Their faces blanched in horror as they saw their precious daughter lying in anguish on the floor. Mrs Lim ran forward, cuddling the little girl and checking for wounds on her. Mr Lim looked on anxiously, uncertain of what he should do. "Ouch, Mummy, my left wrist hurts a lot," Jiayi whimpered between sobs. After a quick discussion, the two adults decided to bring their daughter to the hospital immediately; they were afraid it could be life threatening. Jiaxin tagged along, fear slowly engulfing her as it became clear to her that Jiayi was gravely injured. Little Jiaxin started snivelling and immediately held her hands together, praying fervently that God would miraculously heal her sister. It seemed like eternity till the Lims arrived at the nearest hospital. Mr Lim carried Jiayi's frail, feather-like body into the Accident and Emergency Section, timorous that any further delay would harm his darling daughter. Doctors in white robes rushed about, tending to patients all over. Jiayi was brought into a room and the doctor on duty gently prodded at the swollen wrist. Jiayi was sent for an x-ray and the results showed that she had fractured her left wrist. That night, Jiayi was admitted into the hospital for further observations and her left wrist was placed in a plain white cast. As she lay alone on the hospital bed, Jiayi reflected on the night's events and learnt a paramount lesson. She finally understood the meaning of 'curiosity kills the cat'. <3, CASS. |
